Why ‘A Queer Thing Happened to America’

Dr. Michael Brown’s book (published last year) is titled “A Queer Thing Happened to America.” It’s an impressively researched and footnoted work that spans almost 700 pages. To set the context for what it contains I’m going to quote several times in this column from a book by another author published a few years earlier. But first here’s an excerpt from the promotional page for Dr. Brown’s book:

A Queer Thing Happened to America chronicles the amazing transformation of America over the last forty years…and addresses the question head-on: Is there really a gay agenda, or is it a fiction of the religious right?

Written in a lively and compelling style, but backed with massive research and extensive interaction with the GLBT community, this forthright and yet compassionate book looks at the extraordinary impact gay activism has had on American society – from nursery school to college, from the pulpit to Hollywood, and from science to semantics – also analyzing the foundational arguments of the gay civil rights movement and exposing the extreme intolerance of those calling for tolerance. This could easily be the most controversial book of the decade.

I sure hope it becomes just that. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Dr. Brown’s book was brought to my attention by my good friend Pete LaBarbera, the president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. I admit that the book sat on my shelf for months because like most people, I’d rather not focus on the rot that is the homosexual culture and agenda. I might slow down to see a car wreck, but this topic is something I’ve preferred to drive right past without a glance.

This failure to focus on our part has led to what we have today—it’s literally true that the inmates are running the cultural asylum. Dr. Brown’s book presents the details about what I previously only knew in general terms.

Specifically—that many of those who suffer from same sex attraction also have a mental problem that causes them to—well, let author (and lesbian) Tammy Bruce say it (emphasis added):

For people whose entire identity and reason to live is based in their sexuality, what do they need to do in order to fit comfortably into our society? They must work to sexualize every part of society

It’s my view that far too many of our Christian and political leaders have erred in wanting to demonstrate Christian compassion and gentleness concerning those who drive the homosexual agenda. There’s no question those troubled individuals need to be shown genuine Christian love and concern. At some point, however, the war can’t just be fought on their side, and the time has come for our side to aggressively fight back and say what needs to be said: There is something seriously wrong with homosexual activists.

Actually, someone has said it—Tammy Bruce in her book “The Death of Right and Wrong” (emphasis added):

From where does this madness spring? Why this compulsion to change our society’s culture to mirror the Left Elite’s own worldview? This pattern of the Left Elite’s projecting their issues onto society isn’t as odd as you may think. It makes perfect sense, according to the most respected psychoanalysts of our age. Childhood trauma, stress disorders, and the resulting malignant narcissism all play a part in the Left’s victim mentality and in their effort, mostly subconscious, to shape our world to mirror their own damaged psyches.

If you still prefer the gentle and compassionate route, it’s time for you to read Dr. Michael Brown’s book. Read every page and let it all sink in. The sickness of the social left has been thoroughly researched and is described (albeit in more compassionate terms than I would use) on every page.

The fact that normal people have been repulsed from this issue has even allowed the crazies to pollute the public schools with their propaganda. Their success on that front isn’t surprising to me since honestly I don’t find those who run the public schools to be the brightest bunch. Smart people would’ve realized that homosexual propaganda has no business in taxpayer funded schools.

If you think my comment about the intellectual capacity of the “educators” is too unkind, by the way, you might want to use Google and learn about the fact that the lowest A.C.T. scores are found among those attend “schools of education” in college.

Again, I realize I’m quoting from one book to discuss another—but just a few more from Tammy Bruce. Picking up from the quote above, Bruce writes:

They must work to sexualize every part of society—and, as every good marketer knows, that effort must begin with children. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) describes itself as ‘the leading national organization fighting to end anti-gay bias in K-12 schools.’ This organization, which cloaks itself in a mantra about ‘tolerance’ and ‘understanding,’ is implementing programs in public schools that are aimed at nothing less than sexualizing your children.

That should be enough to get parents angry. Anyone with an understanding of the nature of homosexuality understands that it’s not “anti-gay,” but “pro-morality.” Regarding GLSEN’s claim that school choice undermines the “efforts to ensure the safety of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students,” Ms. Bruce says it nicely:

Please. The only thing it undermines is GLSEN’s ability to infiltrate schools with their propaganda… That’s another fantastic reason to support school vouchers—to get these parasites out of schools and away from children.

Note, lesbian Tammy Bruce calls GLSEN “parasites.”

Under a subheading “A Time for Action,” Ms. Bruce writes:

Remove your child from any school that allows a sexual message to be presented. It will most likely be presented under the guise of tolerance or preventing the spread of disease. Don’t be fooled.

Gentleness and compassion are not an adequate response to those who are committing child abuse. Regarding this “madness” it’s time to declare war on those whose “damaged psyches” have made their problem our problem.
